Have an outdated and ugly popcorn ceiling you need removed? Want to remodel your ceiling patterns? Ceilings make a big difference in your home and commercial space. No one wants to come back at the end of a long workday, lay on the couch, and look up at a ceiling that's an eyesore. DRYWALLS EDMONTON offers full-service drywall ceiling renovations from start to finish. A fresh, new ceiling pattern can make all of the difference from "meh" to "WOW!" Ceilings are also the tell-all sign between a dated home to one of modern fashion. Whatever you'd like to do with your drywall ceilings, DRYWALLS EDMONTON will expertly help you achieve that from start to finish! Below is a list of the most common ceiling patterns that our customers choose!
1. Skip Trowel Pattern
This pattern is used in most homes today and is a very popular option amongst our clients. It is achieved by using plaster, plasterer's tools, and an experienced and skilled hand. If you like this pattern, you most definitely need someone with a great deal of experience with plastering techniques to pull it off since the plaster can become hard very quickly.
2. Knockdown Pattern
This pattern is very similar to the Skip Trowel pattern, and the tools used to produce this are the same as well. The only difference lies in the technique when finishing it. After finishing the ceiling with plaster, we go in with a sponge, brush, or styrofoam and dab the wet plaster to make little peaks in the pattern. After it dries we lightly scrape it off with a knife or knockdown tool which gives you a smooth finished product.
3. Swirl Pattern
One of the most beautiful patterns on this list, the Swirl pattern mimics the look of a rose. These detailed patterns on your ceiling can be made smooth or rough depending on what you want. This look is achieved by either using a sponge for a softer look, or a brush for a rougher, more prominent swirl.
4. Lace Pattern
This pattern is special because unlike the others, the colour of the pattern can be different than the pattern. We first paint the wall with a base colour, let it dry, and then use a different colour to make the pattern. However, it isn't necessary to use two colours if you like this pattern and just want one colour instead.
5. Spray Sand
The most cost effective pattern of them all, this method involves spraying dry texture mud onto the surface and letting it set. The trick here is making sure the consistency of the mix is just right.
