TYPES OF DRYWALL
1. Regular or Standard Drywall
This is the most commonly used drywall. There are no special features to this type of all and it's perfect for interior walls, ceilings, basements, or home remodels.
2. Greenboard Drywall
Also known as moisture resistant drywalls, the green coating on these boards help them repel water better than the standard drywall. However, these are not waterproof, so they should only be used in places where there isn't direct contact with water. Good spaces to use this would be behind tiles in the kitchen or bathroom, utility rooms, or laundry rooms.
3. Blueboard Drywall
This type of paper has special absorption characteristics. Also known as plaster board, these have a higher water-and-mold-resistant and are mainly used in veneer plastering. They do not work well with mud, tape, or paint. Typically, they're best used in places with a lot of moisture like bathrooms. They also help reduce noise between walls.
4. Paperless Drywall
Instead of being covered with paper like most drywalls, these special paperless ones are covered in fibreglass which protects your walls from rotting. They work extremely well in warding off mold or mildew. They are definitely tougher than standard drywalls, and need an extra step of sealing the spaces between the walls (joints) with drywall compound for a flawless finish.
5. Purple Drywall
Your number 1 choice for areas with high water contact. They provide superior protection against mold and mildew and is an alternative option to use for ceilings and walls.
6. Type X Drywall
The official fireproofing wall of the drywall family, these bad boys are made of non-combustible fibres and come in much thicker than regular drywalls (5/8-inches). They can be stacked together for a higher fire rating protection, and also does a great job at soundproofing.
7. Soundproof Walls
Perfect for a large family, music-enthusiasts, condos, or anywhere you need extra help with soundproofing. Made of laminated drywall, wood fibres, gypsum, and polymers, these are the boards you need for a noisy space.
Before sheetrock installation, we cover your electrical and plumbing lines with nail protector plates. The professional way to hang drywall is to place it horizontally for the least amount of seams showing. First, we place adhesive or glue to the wall studs to prevent popped nail heads. Then, drywalls are positioned and nail it in. All necessary adjustments are made, such as cutting out doorways and electrical outlets, and when all boards are in place, we start the drywall taping process.
